Located in Knoxville, Illinois, just a short drive from Peoria, Galesburg, Monmouth, Macomb, and the Quad Cities, our farm provides hands-on learning experiences that connect children with animals, agriculture, nature, and the changing seasons.
Whether you're planning a spring science outing, a summer nature adventure, a fall harvest experience, or a magical winter visit with our reindeer, Prairie Moon Farm offers educational field trips in every season.
What's Included?
Every field trip includes a private guided tour of the farm and opportunities for students to learn, explore, and interact with our animals.
Activities may include:

Meeting and learning about our alpacas, mini donkeys, reindeer, kune kune pigs, and other farm animals

Age-appropriate educational discussions about farming, animal care, agriculture, and nature

Admission to one of our seasonal mazes (when available)

Playtime in our children's area

Plenty of opportunities for photos and memorable experiences

Optional train rides may be added for an additional $4 per person (seasonal availability)
Field trips typically last 60–90 minutes.
Seasonal Field Trip Experiences
Spring Field Trips
Celebrate the arrival of spring as the farm comes alive with blooming flowers, active animals, and new growth. Students can learn about life cycles, pollinators, farming, and caring for animals.
Summer Field Trips
Explore the farm during the height of the growing season. Summer field trips may include wildflowers, farm animals, gardens, pollinators, and nature-focused learning opportunities.
Fall Field Trips
Experience the excitement of harvest season! Fall field trips feature pumpkins, seasonal decorations, mazes, and discussions about farming, food production, and autumn traditions.
Winter Field Trips
Meet our famous reindeer and discover how animals adapt to cold weather. Winter visits offer a unique opportunity to learn about these incredible animals while enjoying the magic of the holiday season.
